::PANAMERICANOS:: mexico city
Ola from Mexico City! A gigantic team Canada has been down (and up, way up) here in Mexico City for the better part of this week working our way through the preliminary rounds of the Pan Am qualifier for next year's Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
It's my first trip ever to Mexico! Seems crazy to me... lots of my teammates have been here to race, but I've never managed to make it down to our other North American neighbour for any reason. Such a beautiful country! Now that I've been I suspect I'll be back very soon...
With a slightly more relaxed race card than I'm used to, with no 500m races, and no semi-final rounds, you'd think it would be a walk in the park... but thanks to the altitude (over 7000ft), any pace over 80% (or just walking up the stairs) leaves me gasping for some beloved oxygen. Nonetheless, I think I'm getting used to it, and I'm looking forward to a solid full body burn in the 1000m final, and the 5km which is this afternoon!
Here's a pic from the Pyramidas, this one is for the sun god, we climbed to the top, and questioned whether or not we'd be doing the CN tower stair climb later this month as a result.
More news to come... thanks for checkin' in!! (visit the twitter for news on the go...)
